Announcing the pavilion, the “Aqualus” offers a view into the Coral Canyon on the second floor of sharks and rays. Inside, an Archipelago of living coral and mangrove ecosystems surround the atrium, with cultural programming and immersive media experiences that transform the Ocean Hall. Back-of-house spaces are designed to turn into public-facing exhibits, demonstrating the Aquarium’s culture and community of care.

This project starts a conversation on the future of aquariums and how human culture can foster a thriving ecology. Collaborating with Aquarium staff and Coast Salish/urban Indigenous consultants, the team has designed multiple  experiences highlighting how humans are working together to transform the ocean world.
