This display juxtaposes historic voting devices with contemporary candidate rally signs to visually provide the visitor with the relationship between the democratic traditions and the current "circus" in the elections.
I chose to display all the 2016 candidates rally signs on grey silhouettes each holding up a sign evoking similar scenes to convention rallies. Among the silhouettes, there are large voting machines from the late 19th and 20th-century voting boxes that evoke moments of past and present civic engagement during the voting process. The platform has a large floor graphic of confetti also evoking the celebratory scenes from political conventions.
I designed the platform in 3-foot squared configurations so as to come apart and reconfigure as per needed, thus allowing use for this and future pop-up exhibits. The platform comes with an embedded plexiglass railing on the edge squares and all pieces are locked in with a coffin key.
